The bounty of summer is everywhere, and in the farmer's markets of NYC we are seeing plenty of stone fruits, including peaches, plums, and nectarines. As the final weekend of summer vacation kicks in, plenty of barbecues and picnics will take place across the U.S. In honor of barbecue pits everywhere, I created a Spicy Peach Barbecue Sauce that works equally well with tofu, seitan, tempeh, chicken, ribs, shrimp and fish. This slammin' sauce will have them coming back for more, so make plenty.
While you're at it, take a few peaches and make quick and easy Vanilla Roasted Peaches or Peach Crisp (2 great make-ahead desserts that are delicious served warm with ice cream, coconut cream or sorbet), or Peach Kanten with Mint, a lovely healthy cross between Jell-O and pudding.
