This recipe for steam sautéed ginger asparagus is fast, delicious and can be adapted to other vegetables like carrots, zucchini, green beans, young greens, or snow peas. If you like your food garlicky, chop the garlic rather than smashing the clove.

Total Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 large clove of garlic, peeled and smashed
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger
- 1 pound pencil asparagus, trimmed and cut on the bias in 2-inch pieces
- Dash of tamari
- ¼ cup water
Preparation:
Heat sesame oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, stir one minute, and add asparagus.
Stir one minute, add tamari and water, cover, and cook for five minutes or until asparagus is tender and water is evaporated. Discard the garlic.
Serves 4-6
